My professional history is unique among St. Louis jewelers. I have enjoyed a diverse career that includes working as a fashion show coordinator, negotiating commercial leases with nationally-known retailers, creating advertising campaigns for luxury goods, and developing clients' fine jewelry wardrobes. These diverse experiences all contribute to and enhance my abilities as a fine jewelry consultant.
Immediately upon graduation from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Journalism degree, I began working in the Plaza Frontenac marketing office. There I learned about the business of luxury goods from wonderful stores such as Montaldo's, Leppert Roos, and other locally-owned boutiques, and enjoyed writing about fashion.Having sewn my own clothes since the age of 14, it was a wonderful way to begin my career.
At age 24, I was named Advertising & Fashion Director for the shopping center, coordinating dozens of fashion shows and photo shoots, writing a weekly fashion column that ran in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and designing print advertising.
Following my years at Plaza Frontenac, I joined the team at locally-owned Hycel Properties Co., where I worked in marketing and leasing for the Saint Louis Galleria, which was one of the nation's most ambitious mall developments. After many fulfilling years at Hycel, I took an important turn, completely starting my professional life over in the fine jewelry business. I had been enthralled with jewelry since childhood, but had never considered it as a career.
It was the perfect fit for me. My interest in gemstones, appreciation for fine craftsmanship and design, attention to detail, and love of fashion were all manifested in jewelry. Since beginning my second career, I have worked for two jewelers who are both members of the American Gem Society.
AGS jewelers are dedicated to client education, ethical business practices and professionalism, which complemented my personal beliefs. Early on I achieved the titles of Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America, and Certified Gemologist Appraiser from AGS. I came to love the work of cutting-edge designers as well as the special beauty of vintage estate jewelry, and learned about quality, rarity, and value.
I am a member of the Saint Louis Art Museum Beaux Arts Council, the Fashion Group International of St. Louis, the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, and am an active sewer at The City Sewing Room. I support the Saint Louis Fashion Fund, Forest Park Forever, the Saint Louis Symphony and am a former Regional Director of FGI.
